Does Ancestry have a free trial, and how do I avoid being charged?
Yes, new users get a 14 day free trial. Cancel at least 2 days before the trial ends or your paid subscription begins, and note that each user is eligible for one free trial.
Can I get a refund on an Ancestry membership?
Monthly subscriptions are not refundable, but you keep access until the paid period ends. For memberships billed upfront for longer than a month, you can cancel for a full refund within the first 14 days if the membership did not start with a trial, and refunds are not available after renewal.
Can I return an AncestryDNA kit?
Yes, if you request a refund and return the kit within 60 days of ordering. Ancestry deducts a $15 processing fee and does not refund shipping or processing charges. Bundles must be returned as a complete package within 60 days.
What does the $1 membership cost after 3 months?
Your World Explorer subscription renews at $99.95 every 3 months, and All Access renews at $149 every 3 months, until you cancel. The $1 offer is limited to one per user and is not available to anyone who previously redeemed it.
How do I cancel my Ancestry subscription?
Log in to your Account Settings page or contact Ancestry support. Monthly subscriptions must be cancelled at least 2 business days before the renewal date, and cancelling keeps your access through the period you have already paid for.
Can I pause my Ancestry subscription instead of cancelling?
Where available, you can delay your renewal payment for up to 2 months, once per billing cycle. You lose access to paid content during the pause, and your subscription reactivates automatically at the end of it.
How long do AncestryDNA results take?
In most cases you will have results within 6 weeks after the lab receives your saliva sample. The kit includes a prepaid return mailer, and lab times may run longer during busy periods.
