Frequently Asked Questions
How does The Princeton Review's Better Scores Guarantee work?
Eligible test prep programs, including specific SAT, ACT and other courses, guarantee a set point or score improvement as long as the student attends all class sessions, completes all assigned homework and takes all assigned practice tests. If the official test score doesn't improve as guaranteed, the student can retake a program for free or, for point-specific guarantees, must reprep and retake the official test once more before qualifying for a refund.
What is the MCAT 515+ Money-Back Guarantee?
Students enrolled in the qualifying MCAT program who complete the recommended coursework and either score 515 or higher or improve by 15 points from their starting score are eligible for a full or partial tuition refund if that target isn't met, following the terms laid out in the program's refund table. Starting scores of 515 or higher are not eligible for this specific guarantee, since the goal has effectively already been met.
Can I get a refund if I withdraw before my course starts?
Withdrawing from a classroom, LiveOnline or Small Group Instruction course ten or more days before the first scheduled session results in a full refund, including the deposit. Withdrawing less than ten days before the first session still results in a refund, but the deposit itself is not returned, and no refund is available once the first session has already taken place.
Do I need to return my course materials to get a refund?
Yes, any program materials received need to be returned unopened and unmarked within two weeks of withdrawing enrollment, at the student's own shipping expense, in order to receive the full refund amount owed. Materials that are opened, marked, or not returned within that window result in a deduction from the refund, generally the deposit amount for classroom-style programs or a set materials fee for private tutoring.
Does the tutoring guarantee work the same way as the test prep guarantee?
No, the tutoring Grade Guarantee applies to students who work with a tutor for at least two hours a month over three consecutive months and is based on grade improvement in a specific subject rather than a standardized test score. This guarantee has since been discontinued for new enrollments, though students who enrolled before the cutoff date continue to have it honored under the original terms.
What happens if my scheduled class gets cancelled by The Princeton Review?
If a course is cancelled due to low enrollment or another circumstance, and there's no comparable rescheduled course or Live Online alternative available, the full tuition is refunded, including the deposit. This is separate from a student-initiated withdrawal and carries no penalty for the student.
Are admissions counseling sessions eligible for a refund?
No, admissions counseling services must be paid upfront and are not refundable once purchased. Sessions need to be scheduled in advance around the counselor's availability, and missing a scheduled meeting without enough notice results in a fee.
Is there a limit to how many times I can use the Better Scores Guarantee?
Generally yes, since re-prepping under the guarantee typically requires paying a new materials fee, which varies by test type, and the guarantee terms specify that a second round of official score results must also show no improvement before a refund becomes available. Students who choose to keep repeating the program are not eligible to switch to a refund at that point.
