Frequently Asked Questions
What discount codes does Alpaca Direct offer?
Its discount page lists SAVE25, which takes $25 off orders of $250 or more. A newsletter signup popup also hands out a free USA shipping code from time to time, good for one use per customer. Many Alpaca Direct codes are date limited and single use, so check the expiration before building a cart around one.
Can Alpaca Direct codes be combined?
No. Discount codes do not stack, so the single best one for your cart is the one to use. Codes also work only on alpacadirect.com, and listings on Amazon, Walmart or Etsy are excluded because of the fees those marketplaces charge the store.
How often does Alpaca Direct release new deals and coupons?
The store says new deals and discounts are added daily, on top of everyday markdowns across many products. Rotating events sit under the Sale menu, including a Yarn Sale, an Alpaca Sock Sale, Closeouts and seasonal Summer and Holiday sales. The codes on this page change along with them.
How does the Alpaca Direct rewards program work?
Loyalty Rewards pays 3 points per dollar spent, and 500 points convert to a $5 coupon that you enter at checkout, which works out to about 3% back. Certain products carry bonus or double points, and points expire two years after they are awarded. Referring a friend earns a $5 coupon for you and another for them on their first purchase.
What is Alpaca Direct's free shipping minimum?
Standard USPS shipping is free within the USA from $75, and orders under that pay $6.99. Delivery usually takes 2 to 4 business days after one business day of processing, and orders with more than one brand can arrive on different days. The daily shipping cutoff is 2 pm Pacific.
What is Alpaca Direct's return policy?
Items can go back if they are returned in the condition sent, unworn and with original tags, postmarked within 30 days. Final Clearance items and Knit Club packets are non refundable, opened patterns, pattern books and DVDs cannot be refunded, and special order items are exchange only. Return postage is the customer's cost unless the return stems from an error by Alpaca Direct or the manufacturer, in which case shipping is refunded.
Can I get matching dye lots at Alpaca Direct?
The store tries to match dye lots on yarn and fiber orders but cannot guarantee it. If you need an exact match, say so in the special instructions box at checkout, and the store will contact you before shipping if it can't fill the request.
Does Alpaca Direct ship to Alaska, Hawaii and PO boxes?
Yes, the store lists Express Mail service for Alaska, Hawaii and PO boxes. Alpaca Direct currently ships only within the United States.
Saving Guide
Why order size matters at Alpaca Direct:
Alpaca Direct layers several small savings instead of one big coupon, so the size and timing of an order do most of the work. Between a $250 code threshold, a free shipping line, points and a Sale menu, a bit of planning goes a long way.
Sizing a yarn order around SAVE25:
SAVE25 needs a $250 order and cannot be combined with another code. A garment's worth of yarn is the most natural way to reach it, and buying the full quantity in one order also protects against mismatched dye lots showing up in a second order.
Closeouts, sock sales and the no refund catch:
The Closeouts and Yarn Sale pages carry the deepest markdowns, but Final Clearance items cannot be refunded. Count skeins twice against your pattern before buying, since there is no way back if you come up short or overbuy.
Points, referrals and the two year clock:
At 3 points per dollar, a $100 order earns 300 points, and it takes roughly $167 in spending to unlock each $5 coupon. Redeem before the two year expiry, and use referral coupons early, since both sides get $5 toward a first purchase.
Keeping shipping from eating the savings:
Small notion or needle orders take the biggest hit from the flat USPS fee, so bundle them with the next yarn purchase instead of ordering separately. Orders with several brands can arrive on different days, which is normal processing rather than a missing package.
Before you check out:
Enter one code only, and only at the alpacadirect.com checkout
Compare the cart total against the SAVE25 and free shipping levels before adding more
Add a dye lot request in special instructions if colors must match
Look for bonus point items in the products you are buying anyway
Confirm no Final Clearance item is something you might need to return
