Is there a way to get a verified certificate for less?

Yes, financial assistance gives eligible learners 80% off the verified certificate fee, and you can be approved up to 5 times. It does not cover Professional Education, Executive Education, or Boot Camps.

What payment methods does edX accept?

Buy the full program, not each course:

Enrolling in a whole Professional Certificate, MicroBachelors, or MicroMasters program saves 10% compared with paying per course. This only helps if you plan to finish the whole series.

Decide inside the refund window:

If a verified course is not right for you, unenroll within the eligible period for an automatic refund. Do it before you earn the certificate, because the option disappears after that.

Audit versus verified:

Auditing is free and gives no certificate. The verified track is the paid option that earns a certificate. edX lists optional verified upgrades at roughly $50 to $300 per course.

Pick the right program type:

A Professional Certificate is a series of courses, usually 2 to 10 months and typically $500 to $1,500. MicroMasters programs are graduate level and can take up to 18 months. MicroBachelors programs are undergraduate level. Executive Education is cohort based.

Boot Camps and Executive Education work differently:

These are hosted on partner sites, and the credentials are not issued through edX.org. They are also not eligible for edX financial assistance.

Credit and licensing:

A standard course certificate does not carry university credit. Some MicroBachelors and MicroMasters programs may transfer toward a degree. edX also says a certificate is not the same as a professional certification and may not be enough for licensure.
