Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Splice cost after the $4.99 trial?

Creator renews at the regular $19.99 per month after the first month. The Sounds plan is listed at $12.99 per month billed yearly, with about 100 monthly downloads instead of Creator's roughly 200.

Do I keep my sounds if I cancel Splice?

Yes, everything you download is yours to keep and you can re-download samples already in your library. Remaining credits expire 28 days after your final billing period ends, and you can put a plan on hold for up to two months to keep them.

Can I get a refund from Splice?

The Terms of Use say you can use your subscription until the end of the current term after cancelling, but no portion of that period's fee is refunded. They do provide a full reimbursement for cancellations during a cooling off period, and a charge you didn't intend should go to support@splice.com.

Where do I enter a Splice promo code?

Choose a plan at splice.com/plans, then pick your billing frequency. The "Enter promo code" field appears only after you add a valid payment method, so enter the code on that page before you confirm.

Can I combine more than one Splice code?

Splice's Terms allow only one code per user for each promotion. The student discount is also not valid together with other discounts on Splice plans.

How does the Splice student discount work?

Sign up at splice.com/students with a valid .edu or .ac email in the USA, UK, Australia, South Korea or Japan, and the code is sent to your email. It gives you $8.99 per month for the Sounds plan plus the free Baby Audio plugin.

How do Splice rent-to-own plugins work?

You try the software free, then pay a monthly price until you own a full license. Listed examples include Serum 2 at $9.99 per month and RC-20 Retro Color at $4.99 per month.

Saving Guide

Cancel your trial right after signing up if you're unsure: A cancelled plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, and you can keep downloading new sounds during that time. That lets you lock in the $4.99 first month without worrying about the $19.99 renewal.

Preview in Bridge before you spend credits: Samples cost one credit each, while MIDI patterns and presets can cost up to three. Auditioning in your project with Bridge first means credits go only to sounds that fit the track.

Put a plan on hold instead of cancelling: Credits expire 28 days after your last billing period ends, but a hold of up to two months keeps your balance. Use it when you're taking a break and have credits left.

Check whether you need Creator's second 100 downloads: Creator costs more per month than Sounds but doubles the monthly downloads and adds 1,000+ INSTRUMENT presets. If you rarely use all your credits, the cheaper plan may be enough.

Look for rent-to-own before paying full price on a plugin: Many plugins are available to try free and pay off monthly, while others are listed under For Sale. Check which model a plugin uses before you commit.

Shopping Guide

INSTRUMENT and Sounds are separate: The INSTRUMENT plan does not include downloading from Splice Sounds. If you want samples and loops as well as presets, you need Creator.

Works in any DAW, with a few native integrations: Splice Sounds works with any DAW, and the Bridge, Astra and Beatmaker plugins come in VST3 or AU format. In-DAW integrations are listed for Pro Tools 2025.6+, Studio One 7+ and Ableton Live 12.3, which is currently in beta.

Sounds are cleared for commercial use: Splice describes its sounds as 100% royalty free and yours to keep after download. You still need an active plan to download new ones.
