Frequently Asked Questions
What is Public Desire's return window?
28 days from the date you receive your order. Items need to be unworn and in their original packaging and box to qualify.
Are Public Desire returns free?
No. Unlike many footwear retailers, Public Desire does not offer free returns, and the return fee helps offset the cost of shipping and handling the original order.
How much does a Public Desire return label cost?
Using the brand's own return portal to generate a label costs $30, which also covers and insures the item if it's lost or damaged in transit. Shoppers can also use their own preferred carrier to send a return back instead.
Can I exchange a pair of Public Desire shoes for a different size?
No, Public Desire only offers refunds on returns, not direct exchanges, so a wrong size means returning the original pair and placing a new order separately.
Will I get my original shipping fee back on a Public Desire return?
No, the original postage charge covers sending the order out and is non-refundable regardless of why you're returning the item.
How long does a Public Desire refund take?
Up to 10 working days to process once your return is received, plus a few additional days for the refund to show up in your account.
Does Public Desire offer free shipping?
Yes, on U.S. orders over $90. Orders under that ship for a flat rate
Does Public Desire offer a first order discount?
Yes, signing up for email and SMS updates typically unlocks around 15% off a first order, and students can access a separate discount with verification.
Saving Guide
Why sizing confidence matters more here than at other shoe retailers:
Since Public Desire only processes refunds rather than exchanges, and since the return label itself costs $30 through the brand's own portal, it's worth checking the size guide and reviews closely before ordering, since a sizing mistake costs more to fix here than at a retailer with free exchanges.
Weighing the $30 label against your own shipping option
Because Public Desire lets you use your own carrier instead of the $30 portal label, comparing a local postage rate against that flat fee is worth doing before starting a return, particularly for a lower priced item where $30 would eat up a large share of the refund.
Signing up before your first order:
The roughly 15% welcome discount for joining the email and SMS list is one of the more reliable savings paths, and it's worth doing before browsing rather than after, since it typically can't be applied retroactively to an order already placed.
Hitting the free shipping threshold:
Free shipping starts at $90 for U.S. orders, so if you're ordering one pair of shoes close to that price, adding a smaller accessory can sometimes make more sense than paying a separate flat shipping fee.
Checking student eligibility:
Students can access a separate discount with verification, which is worth checking against whatever sitewide promo code is currently active, since it can sometimes be deeper than a general code.
Before you check out:
Double check your size against Public Desire's guide since exchanges aren't offered, decide whether the $30 return label or your own shipping method makes more sense if you think you might return the order, and confirm your cart clears $90 for free shipping.
