Frequently Asked Questions
What does a Mini Museum sale code typically cover?
The brand runs named sitewide codes, such as DINOSUMMER, EARLYBIRD, SEASONS and STARLIGHT, that take around 20% off most items in the shop for a fixed window. They are genuinely broad across fossils, meteorites and relics, but they do not apply to everything, and the exclusion list is published on each sale page.
What is excluded from Mini Museum discount codes?
Bundles, because they are already discounted, along with apparel, third party products including the Friends of Mini Museum collection, pre-orders, special offer items, anything in BackerKit, and gift cards. The discount also applies to the product total only, not to shipping, and cannot be combined with other offers.
How do I get free US shipping?
Free US shipping is offered during sales at a threshold that changes with each promotion, having run at $30 in one sale and $75 in others. It applies to Mini Museum products only, so third party items in the cart do not count toward it. International orders typically get a flat $5 off shipping during the same promotions rather than free delivery.
How does the free meteorite gift work?
During most sales, a Cosmic Campo del Cielo mini meteorite is free on orders above a stated total, commonly $50 or $75. The critical detail is that you have to add the meteorite to your cart yourself before checkout; the discount applies automatically but the item does not. It is also only available while stock lasts, with no rainchecks.
Can I return a discounted item?
No. Mini Museum states that all discounted Mini Museums are sold as-is with no exchanges or refunds possible. That makes a sale purchase final in a way a full-price one is not, which is the trade-off for the 20% saving.
What is the return policy on full-price items?
Each Mini Museum is a limited edition collectible sold as-is, and there are no exchanges. If you are unhappy, a return within 30 days of purchase is possible after contacting the company first. Refunds come as either full-value store credit or back to the original payment method minus a processing fee of roughly 2.5 to 3% charged by the payment processor. That fee also applies to order cancellations.
Who pays return shipping?
You do. A return label can be provided, but its cost is deducted from the refund, and original shipping costs are not refundable either. Third party and Friends of Mini Museum products are not eligible for returns or refunds at all.
Are the specimens genuine?
Yes, and the brand publishes an authenticity guarantee covering ethical and legal sourcing, including compliance with local mining and heritage laws. It also notes that acrylic pieces are hand-assembled, so tiny air bubbles, specimen shifts and label alignment variations occur and are not defects.
What happens with international duties?
For the UK, VAT is collected upfront on orders below £135, with VAT and duties due directly to HMRC above that. Everywhere else, duties and taxes are the buyer's responsibility and are not collected at checkout. Australian customers spending over 1000 AUD should expect import duties plus roughly $90 USD in handling. Refusing import charges means the item comes back and is refunded minus shipping, not reshipped.
What if my package is lost or damaged?
Every shipment is insured against loss and theft. Missing or damaged packages need to be reported within 120 days of the shipment date for the insurance claim to be made. Contacting the company quickly means a replacement rather than an investigation you have to wait out.
