Frequently Asked Questions

Can I combine a 2Modern coupon code with the sale section?

No. Promo codes and discounts don't apply to sale items, gift cards, or the trade site, and a fairly long list of premium brands, including Kartell, FLOS, and Visual Comfort and Co, are excluded from promotional codes entirely.

Why isn't my 2Modern promo code applying at checkout?

Check whether the item belongs to one of 2Modern's excluded brands, since codes don't stack with certain manufacturer lines regardless of the promotion. Codes also cannot combine with any other active sale or offer, so only one discount type applies per order.

What is 2Modern's return policy?

Most items can be returned within 30 days of receipt, though outbound shipping costs are non refundable and a restocking fee applies. Customers are responsible for return shipping and should contact Customer Care before sending anything back for detailed shipping instructions.

How much is 2Modern's restocking fee?

A 15% restocking fee applies to orders under $10,000 with fewer than 10 total items or fewer than five units of the same base product. There is no restocking fee if the refund is issued as store credit through a 2Modern gift card instead of cash.

Can I return a large 2Modern order for cash?

Orders over $10,000 that include 10 or more total items, or five or more units of the same base product, are not eligible for a cash refund and can only be returned for store credit, though that credit comes without a restocking fee.

Does 2Modern have a price match guarantee?

Yes, the 100% Price Match Guarantee matches a lower advertised price from an authorized dealer within 7 days of purchase. Clearance items, special promotions, and rebates are excluded from the guarantee.

Does 2Modern offer free shipping?

Free standard shipping applies to orders over $50 to the contiguous United States, though some items over that threshold still carry a shipping charge as noted on the product page. Orders under $50 carry a $5 per item shipping fee, and White Glove delivery is available for an additional cost on select furniture.

Does 2Modern have discounts for designers or trade professionals?

Yes, the 2Modern Trade Program offers special pricing to design professionals working on qualifying projects, which is worth applying for separately from any general promo code if furnishing more than a single space.

Saving Guide

Because 2Modern's return policy comes with real costs attached, from restocking fees to non refundable outbound shipping, the biggest savings usually come from getting the order right before it ships rather than relying on the return process afterward.

Checking brand exclusions before applying a code

Before assuming a sitewide code will apply, check whether the piece is from one of 2Modern's excluded brands, like Blu Dot or Hubbardton Forge. A code that doesn't apply to the exact brand won't show a discount at checkout no matter how it's entered.

Using the price match window strategically

Since the Price Match Guarantee only covers the 7 days after purchase, it's worth doing one final price comparison across authorized dealers right after ordering rather than assuming the 2Modern price was already the best available.

Weighing store credit against a restocking fee

For any return likely to happen, choosing store credit through a 2Modern gift card avoids the 15% restocking fee entirely, which is a meaningful amount to keep on a higher priced furniture or lighting purchase.

Reaching the free shipping threshold

Because most items over $50 ship free while smaller accessories carry a per item fee, combining a small decor purchase with a larger furniture order rather than checking out separately can avoid paying shipping twice.

Applying for trade pricing on larger projects

Anyone furnishing more than a single room should look into the Trade Program before placing several separate orders, since trade pricing can outperform a standard promo code on a project involving multiple pieces.

Checklist before checkout

Confirm the item isn't on the excluded brand list before applying a code, check the return policy for the specific product category, decide whether a possible return would be better handled as store credit, and see whether the order already clears the $50 free shipping threshold.
